From the first instance,... read more we knew we were in safe hands as he listened to our needs and had the experience and skill to adjust our itinerary on the fly - and this is someone who knows the Margaret River intimately. We ended the day with an understanding of the region that can rarely be gleaned from books, and with a respect for how the landscape, flora and fauna and human settlement has evolved. From the life cycle of a hairy marron, to the effects of bush fires, to the quietest forest glades, to the least crowded surf wave breaks, and finest coffee, Hank has it all covered. Thank you, Hank. 					  Highlight in Margaret River !  - We had been to Margaret River couple of times before but we were just wandering around the wineries, cheese/chocolate factories etc. Felt that we wanted to do something different &... read more see more than what one could find on Google / reviews.

Got in touch with Hank about a month before and he was very accommodating and flexible. Met him one drizzly morning and he really showed us all around the area. We saw the river of Margaret River upstream at a small waterfall, as well as its outlet to the sea. Many of the sights he brought us to were off-road which we could never have gotten to by ourselves.

Lunch was at an olive oil farm, which had great food as well as nice things to buy as gifts. There were so many varieties of olive oil with different flavourings.

For the afternoon, we could choose between visiting a winery or catch some more nature. Nature it was and we saw an osprery' nest, long stretchs of empty beaches with no one in sight and a whole forest of grass trees. Hank was very knowledgeable and also gave us an insight into what happened during a bushfire few years ago and how the forest is recovering.

Had a great day out and all the rest of my travelling party agreed that this was the highlight of our southwest trip.

PS: Went back the next morning to one of his recommendations for breakfast (White Elephant cafe) and wasn't disappointed !
